Actor Profile: Meryl Streep

Pure class.
Personal Life
Meryl Streep. Wow. Well, she was born in Summit, New Jersey, on June 22, 1949. Streep has 2 brothers, Dana and Harry. She graduated from Bernards High School and received her B.A. in Drama from Vassar College. Streep also got her M.F.A. from Yale School of Drama. Her 1978 marriage to Don Gummer resulted in 4 children: Louisa, Grace, Henry, and Mamie. She is recognized as possibly the most talented and well respected actress of our time; her grace and class is apparent in everything she does. Streep has an incredibly accomplished career in both film and theater, not to mention her honorary degrees from Princeton and Harvard.

Critical Reception
As if this is even necessary. Streep’s 13 Best Actress and 3 Best Supporting Actress nominations make her the most nominated actor in Oscar history. She also has the most Golden Globe nominations and, as of 2010, wins. Her earning of the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement award isn’t too shabby, either. I mean, come on. Let’s be honest. This paragraph is essentially only here to keep the same format as all the other profiles. We all know Meryl Streep is the best of the best.

The Future
Once again, we must fulfill the format requirements. Meryl Streep will continue to bust out high quality movies (and some mediocre quality ones) for another good few years, and we’ll love every single one. In case you want some specifics: She’s scheduled to co-star with Tina Fey in an upcoming comedy called Mommy & Me. Streep will play Fey’s mother, and it’s directed by Stanley Tucci. I expect a lot of good laughs, but no Oscar bids. Ah well. Everything she makes can’t be the best.

  1. It's funny: I acknowledge that she is obviously a good actress but other than Fantastic Mr. Fox I can't think of a film I particularly like her in (and that was a voiceover for an animated picture). Maybe I just need to see more stuff she was in/get Mamma Mia! out of my head. haha.
